When capable looks exhausting
You can look capable on the outside and still be using an enormous amount of energy just to keep up. Many adults with ADHD were never identified as children. They learned to compensate, overfunction, and hold everything together—and on the outside, it worked.
Amy’s work is centered on adult ADHD that has been late-recognized, overlooked, highly masked, or misunderstood, including chronic overfunctioning and the burnout that can develop after years of pushing through.
Who this is for
Adults 18+ in Ohio who have an ADHD diagnosis, suspect ADHD, or simply notice that ordinary tasks take far more effort than they seem to for other people. Amy is also deeply interested in the ways ADHD can intersect with anxiety, trauma, mood changes, hormonal shifts, and a nervous system that has spent too long in survival mode, so therapy can make room for the whole picture.
You do not need to arrive with a diagnosis or already know what is causing your symptoms. Part of the work may be identifying the patterns beneath what you have been experiencing.
What therapy with Amy is like
Amy brings warmth, curiosity, honesty, and humor into the therapy room. She is conversational and direct, and she wants therapy to feel like a place where you can speak freely, understand yourself more clearly, and work toward changes that are realistic for your actual life.
Amy uses an integrative, trauma-informed approach that is tailored to the person, not a rigid method. Depending on your needs, your work together may draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy. The methods matter, but so does the relationship. Amy wants you to understand why you are doing something, how it connects to your goals, and whether it is genuinely helping.
Wondering whether it’s ADHD?
If you want a clearer answer first, Amy also offers a comprehensive adult ADHD assessment, with a free 15-minute consult to see whether an evaluation may be a fit.
